The mainstream media is hammering President Trump over his response to the events in Charlottesville.
It doesn’t matter what the commander-in-chief has to say, as his words are being spun to support the anti-Trump narrative.
Beyond the fact that each and every one of his words are being parsed ad nauseum, there has also been the not-so-subtle implication that the events in Charlottesville equates to blood on the president’s hands.
We’ll bite. Let’s make the wild leap to assume that the president can somehow be personally held responsible for what happened. Can we go backwards and hold former President Barack Obama to the same exact standard?
If we had the benefit of a Time Machine, surely the press would be holding Obama’s feet to the fire over the scores of disturbing incidents that happened under his watch, right?
We all know the answer to that.
The Daily Wire has compiled a number of incidents that took place under Obama’s leadership for which the press didn’t hold him even remotely responsible for.
In 2013, ex-Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Officer Chris Dorner murdered four people in slightly over a week, including two police officers. In his manifesto, Dorner railed against the LAPD for firing him for complaining about an instance in which he claimed an officer used excessive force.
Dorner was revealed to be an Obama supporter. Does that mean Obama was responsible for what happened? Of course not, but would the same common sense be applied if he was a Trump supporter?
How about for the murderous rampage of Micah Xavier Johnson?
“The suspect said he was upset about Black Lives Matter; he said he was upset about the recent police shootings. The suspect said he was upset at white people. The suspect stated he wanted to kill white people, especially white officers,” Dallas Police Chief David Brown told reporters.
Obama spoke at the memorial for the slain Dallas police officers, where he trashed the police.
Gavin Long also murdered three cops. Was Obama held responsible for that?
Long was a black nationalist who subscribed to the same kind of Black Liberation Theology perpetuated by Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s former pastor. Long frequently ranted about cops and “crackers” and was empathetic toward organizations like the New Black Panther Party.
We could certainly say that blood was on the hands of the Obama administration for the murder of Kate Steinle, but the mainstream press didn’t even give the story the light of day.
Steinle was murdered by an illegal immigrant who was deported five times yet was able to reside in San Francisco due to the city’s status as a sanctuary city. The Obama administration largely supported sanctuary cities and didn’t use the full legal tools at its disposal to crack down on them.
What about Benghazi? There was a startling lack of accountability displayed by the Obama administration as a whole. Disturbingly, they were given a complete pass.
The Obama administration initially blamed the attack on a video and did nothing to help the four Americans who were murdered. We still don’t know what Obama was doing that night.
There are horrifying incidents that take place regardless of who is occupying the Oval Office. In most cases, the occupier of that office is afforded the opportunity to respond, act, and lead without having the whole incident evolve into a referendum on the occupier.
Trump is not being afforded that opportunity in any way, shape, or form. It’s easy to dismiss that as par for the course in terms of coverage of the Trump administration, but there’s much more at play here.
In a perfect world, the president would receive praise when it was warranted, and he would be called out when it’s not. In Trump’s case, only one side of the pendulum works as far as the press is concerned.
Beyond being hard to digest, it also does an incredible disservice to viewers and readers. The story is not being told without something known as bias writing the overwhelming majority of the passages, and that’s becoming downright alarming.
