The Democratic Party has been in tumults throughout the primaries. Although Hillary Clinton has been dominating from the start, Bernie Sanders has run an unprecedented campaign, garnering support that few people would have predicted.
But it was foolish for Sanders’s followers to think that they could out run a machine like Hillary.
The established Democrats have come out in support of the former Secretary of State. Despite a grassroots movement for Bernie, every liberal from Hollywood to D.C. is backing Clinton.
Of course her husband has been making the rounds as well. As he made appearances in support of Hillary, Bill got a taste of the vitriol common among Sanders’s supporters. He did not react well.
From The Hill:
Former President Bill Clinton did not mince his words when Bernie Sanders supporters heckled him during a campaign event for Hillary Clinton.
“If I were them, I’d be screaming too because they know they will be toast by election day,” Clinton said, according to a Fox News reporter at the event.
We know now that Clinton has all but clinched the Democratic nomination. But it remains to be seen what Bernie supporters will do. Will they forget all the hate they’ve received from the Clinton camp, or will they jump sides?
