Republicans finally got the courage—Democrats thought they would never make this move.

President Trump is not backing down. In his address to the nation, he laid out a plan to reopen the government, fund the wall, and even provide concessions to the Left.

Democrats, naturally, turned it down. Because they don’t know a good deal when they see one.

But, perhaps for the first time, the GOP is banding together.

And they are hitting Democrats harder anyone thought they would have.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., lines up a vote on legislation to fund a border wall and the government — and challenge Democrats in the process…

McConnell’s bill is modeled after Trump’s proposal and an effort to pressure Democrats. The bill will likely need 60 votes in the Senate, meaning McConnell needs at least seven Democrats to break off and join the 53 Republicans in the chamber…

The Senate bill also provides $12.7 billion in supplemental disaster relief, as well as funding for the nine government departments that have not been funded since the partial shutdown began Dec. 22.

We can’t expect con artists Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi to play ball.

But this shutdown is dragging on to ridiculous lengths. Hundreds of thousands of Americans are out of work.

Many more suffer thanks to limited services.

Time and again we’ve seen Trump trying to find a solution. The Democrats refused to do the same.

If they reject McConnell’s latest solution, they will be in big trouble. We might see numerous Democrats break rank from their leaders, just to end this nonsense.

We need the wall and we need to fund the government. How long will Democrats hold this country hostage, just to throw a fit?

If this deal does go through, it will mean the latest big win for Donald Trump. He will be hailed as the greatest deal-maker in our history.
