Liberal leaders in so-called sanctuary cities continue to push their beliefs on the cities they are tasked with running.
While doing so, the leaders portray themselves as if they are merely looking out for the best interests of everyone.
You see, they have such gigantic hearts that they just can’t bear to see someone that has already broken the law by entering the country illegally have to answer for their actions.
Expanding on their warped reasoning, is it suddenly okay for legal citizens to do whatever the hell they want?
It’s not, nor should it be. Those that run afoul of the law should be dealt with swiftly. If the crime is beyond your jurisdiction, they need to be handed over to those that can handle the situation expeditiously.
If any reasonable person would expect that to happen to legal citizens, how can you possibly sell this as something that’s not acceptable for an illegal immigrant?
Taking that a step further, how can you tout sanctuary policies with a straight face when illegals are just as capable of committing violent crimes as those that are held to different standards?
Unfortunately, we have another glaring example that further bolsters that argument, courtesy of this stunning crime in a sanctuary city.
An illegal immigrant being monitored by immigration officials is now accused of murder in the sanctuary city of San Francisco, California.
Erick Garcia-Pineda, 18, wore an ankle monitor placed by immigration officials when he allegedly murdered 23-year-old Abel Ezquivel, according to NBC Bay Area.
Four days before the murder, Pineda allegedly stole a San Francisco Police officer’s service pistol from a police vehicle. Days later, the illegal immigrant allegedly used the gun to murder Ezquivel.
So Garcia-Pineda was obviously on the radar due to the ankle monitor, but this is a perfect example of why everyone needs to be documented.
Let’s suppose he wasn’t on the radar when he committed the alleged murder. How do we find him? How do we track him down? If we do, will someone still be willing to provide him sanctuary just because they think it’s the right thing to do?
We would certainly hope not, as this young man sounds like he has some serious trouble staying on the right side of the law.
Following the murder, Pineda was later arrested and detained for unrelated battery charges. Police say they noticed the illegal immigrant’s monitoring bracelet and used it to link Pineda to several other crimes, including five robberies and two other shooting incidents.
In short, there was a violent thug out on the streets doing whatever he wanted. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated example of an illegal immigrant displaying violent and criminalistic tendencies.
Does that mean that every illegal immigrant is a violent thug?
Of course not, but people can rest a lot easier knowing that their neighbors have entered the country legally, and that they can be easily tracked down if they run afoul from the law.
Stay on the right side of the law, and you have nothing to worry about. That same line of reasoning applies to immigration status, as there are plenty of people that manage to enter the country legally and go on to build the life of their dreams.
If they can do it, why can’t those that are protected by sanctuary cities do the same?
Pineda, according to NBC, was attempting to obtain asylum in the U.S., claiming he was under threat of the MS-13 gang.
It remains unclear why Pineda was wearing an ankle monitor by immigration officials, but was not previously arrested for his illegal status.
The list of stunning examples that expose the backwards thinking of sanctuary policies is long, and it will unfortunately keep growing.
There’s no easy answer on how to make the problem go away, but President Donald Trump is on the right track with threats to withhold federal funding from these liberal enclaves.
It’s time to advance the threats into action. We have a sneaky suspicion that these liberal leaders won’t be beating the sanctuary drum so hard when they can’t pay their bills.
