Americans have seen the power of an endorsement. When your former rivals sincerely support you—like Ben Carson for Trump—that has a significant effect. An insincere endorsement, however, can cut the other way, such as Joe Biden’s tepid support for Hillary. And then there are the damaging endorsements, surch as the Orlando shooter’s father endorsing Hillary.
But when 88 respected men endorse one candidate, America pays attention.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump just received endorsements from some pretty influential people.
In an open letter, 88 retired US generals and admirals pledged their support for Trump in the upcoming elections this November. In their letter they cited reasons why Trump would be a much better candidate than democrat Hillary Clinton, who has been part of the Obama administration’s downsizing of the US military.
According to Breitbart, the senior military officers praised him for “his commitment to rebuild our military, to secure our borders, to defeat our Islamic supremacist adversaries and restore law and order domestically.”
The letter also stated objections that the senior officers have about Hillary:
As retired senior leaders of America’s military, we believe that such a change can only be made by someone who has not been deeply involved with, and substantially responsible for, the hollowing out of our military and the burgeoning threats facing our country around the world, For this reason, we support Donald Trump’s candidacy to be our next Commander-in-Chief.
The fact that Donald Trump is receiving such high praise from senior military officers who were canned by President Obama because they had opposed his weak military policies speaks volumes about Trump. Most of those senior officers were replaced by either Muslims or officers who are willing to sacrifice America’s security in order to further their personal careers.
In response to the letter endorsement Trump thanked the retired officers, saying:
It is a great honor to have such amazing support from so many distinguished retired military leaders,” Trump stated in response to the endorsement. “I thank each of them for their service and their confidence in me to serve as commander-in-chief.
Keeping our nation safe and leading our armed forces is the most important responsibility of the presidency. Under my administration, we will end the weak foreign policy of the last eight years, rebuild our military, give our troops clear rules of engagement and take care of our veterans when they come home. We can only Make America Great Again if we ensure our military remains the finest fighting force in the world, and that’s exactly what I will do as president.
Over the past eight years, we have seen appeasement after appeasement of our enemies and apologies from a president who clearly regards his Muslim “brothers” over the security of American citizens whom he is sworn to serve. Hillary will be no different. A Hillary Clinton administration will be another four or possibly eight years of mamby pamby appeasement and cowtowing to savages who will waste no time bringing fear and intimidation to this country. And that is something we may not survive!
