WHOA: Defunding Sanctuary Cities Not ENOUGH! TX Governor Just Passed RUTHLESS Bill To…

The state of Texas is literally on the front lines in the battle to keep the nation’s borders secure. No one knows this better than Governor Greg Abbott.

It’s his responsibility to see that the state’s (and the nation’s) laws are enforced so that his citizens can lead their lives in safety.

And the fact is, illegal immigrants commit a disproportionate amount of crimes. The burden this creates on society is massive, in terms of the economy and quality of life.

You’d think everyone could agree on this simple fact, but of course, that’s not the case.

Liberals insist on promoting the notion of “sanctuary cities,” where illegal aliens could reside without fearing arrest and deportation.

Donald Trump promised that if elected president he would cut off federal funding to sanctuary cities, which has prompted some municipalities to back down. Now Governor Abbott is coming at the same problem from the state level:

Under a bill that has passed the Texas Senate, Abbott said that in addition to defunding cities that adopt “sanctuary” policies for illegal immigrants, public officials could be prosecuted. “If you have a public official, including a sheriff, who continues to adopt sanctuary city policies after this ban goes into place, they could be criminally prosecuted and themselves wind up in jail. The place they are releasing dangerous criminals from.”

He specifically called out Travis County Sheriff Sally Hernandez, who has vowed to continue sanctuary policies and reduce cooperation with federal authorities on possible deportations of criminal aliens.

Abbott said Hernandez has released 50 criminal aliens from her jails this month, including one who was accused of sexually assaulting a child.

What bleeding heart liberals like Hernandez refuse to consider is that their actions have consequences on people who don’t enjoy their privileges.

As a county sheriff, Hernandez enjoys a level of personal security that the citizens whose taxes pay her generous salary do not.

Those criminals she sets free aren’t likely to attack her and her family; instead, the targets will be helpless Travis County residents who naively thought it was the role of local law enforcement to protect them from criminals — not release them into their midst.

It’s easy to be “generous” with other people’s money, and the same applies to “compassion.” The elites calling for sanctuary cities are never the ones who suffer when their policies turn fatal.

Governor Abbott is simply trying to restore law and order to his state. It is sad that he has to pressure sworn law enforcement leadership to join his endeavor.
