We can’t remember the last time a Republican announced he was leaving the GOP. But we can recall numerous times when a Democrat, in just recent years, ditched the left. Recently, the Senate was rocked when Arizona Sen. Sinema ditched the Democrats to become an Independent.
She was just one of several Democrats to announce they were leaving the increasingly socialist party. Many Democrats from South Texas have done the same, joining the GOP. And now, we can add another one to the list.

Villanueva switching parties comes after several Democratic elected officials switched parties last year, including the judges of Terrell and Presidio counties in west Texas and state Rep. Ryan Guillen, in House District 31.
Another one bites the dust! A sheriff from Karnes County, Texas just announced he was leaving the Democrats to become a Republican. Sheriff Villanueva is an elected official, so this move speaks volumes about what is happening in his community.
A big shift is happening in traditionally Democrat-voting parts of Texas. And it has everything to do with Joe Biden. Biden’s failures to protect the border have brought no end to chaos within border communities. These towns are overrun by criminal aliens because Biden refuses to enforce our immigration laws.
Many Hispanic voters, who long supported Democrats, are flipping for Republicans. This trend is so strong, that many Democrat officials are flipping parties to save their political future. They are the smart ones. The ones who refuse, and stick by Biden, will lose big in the coming years.
Villanueva’s decision appears to be inspired by a strong desire to uphold law and order in his county. This is another strike against Biden and the Democrats. Biden has claimed to not support the “defund the police” movement, but he has done nothing to support our police anywhere.
This sheriff no doubt realized that, if he wanted to keep his county safe, he needed the backing of the party that actually upholds the law. He is one of many Democrats jumping ship in recent years. How many more will follow them?
