We’d never thought we’d see this happen, believe me.
With Donald Trump winning the White House on November 8th, we though we heard the last of Hillary Clinton. Sure, she’d still be around, causing trouble. But all the deserved criticism of her criminal activity would have been swept under the rug.
Those of us paying attention will remember the many crimes of the Clinton campaign. Long before the election, she was under FBI investigation for an illegal private email server.
Not only that, but her “Foundation” was under investigation for suspicious donations from foreign powers. At the time we all suspected she was taking money to give out favors to such countries as Saudi Arabia.
Then there were even more problems with how her aids handled important emails. More and more we learned that Clinton and her people were skirting the law.
Now it looks like the story is not over. And even democrats are saying something needs to be done.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Thursday to discuss the news from Wednesday’s James Comey hearing. More specifically, the topic was the FBI director revealing that longtime Hillary Clinton advisor Huma Abedin forwarded classified emails to then-husband Anthony Weiner, ostensibly so he could print them out.
“Do you believe that is a crime?” panelist Willie Geist asked to open the Blumenthal interview. “If there was classified information and it was improperly passed to a person unauthorized to receive it? Yes, it’s a crime,” the senator replied. ”Without knowing what the intentions were and so forth, there is potentially a prosecutable crime.”
Moments later, host Joe Scarborough jumped in: “Should it have been prosecuted?” he asked. “It still may be potentially,” answered Blumenthal. “It’s not outside the statute of limitations. Who will decide it? That’s why we need a special prosecutor to review all of this investigative material.”
Now that Clinton is out of running for president, it seems like democrats aren’t too keen on protecting her. She’s got nothing over them, so they’re not afraid of her.
It comes as no surprise, then, that Blumenthal is so honest about the criminal activity Hillary’s aid committed in sending emails to her husband.
Normally, Clinton allies would make excuses for her behavior. They did this throughout the election. Even though Clinton was frequently exposed in breaking the law, they pretended she did nothing wrong.
That’s all over. The democrats know Clinton and her people played fast and loose with serious laws concerning classified documents. Any one of those emails could have been intercepted by spies or foreign countries. We know many of her emails were stolen, perhaps by Russia, and leaked to Wikileaks.
These laws are in place so that kind of thing doesn’t happen. Yet the reckless behavior of Huma, Hillary, and others jeopardized American citizens. Imagine what would have happened if she became president?
But will there be a special prosecutor? Will Huma and Hillary be brought to justice? We can hope, but don’t be surprised if other liberals come out to protect her.
It will take a concerted effort by the GOP and President Trump to hold Hillary accountable for her crimes.
Maybe one day.
