What’s Happening:
Why do Democrats hate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis so much? Because he actually does what he says he’ll do.
He already took major steps to clean up Florida schools with his “Parental Rights” bill.
And now, he is taking out some more trash.
From Daily Caller:
Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis suspended four Broward County School Board Members for “incompetence, neglect of duty, and misuse of authority” […]
A report from the Twentieth Statewide Grand Jury found that a safety-related alarm could have saved lives during the shooting, but that the alarms remained uninstalled and the buildings kept in, “unsafe, aging, decrepit, moldy” conditions.
Wow. Gov. DeSantis suspended Broward County School Board Members over “neglect of duty” related to the Parkland shooting back in February 2018.
It appears a report has finally come out that found that safety-related alarms were not operational at the time of the shooting.
Those alarms could have saved lives on that day. But the school board refused to have the alarms installed.
On top of that, the school buildings were kept in “unsafe, aging, decrepit, moldy” conditions.
Dang. A school board has one job. They are supposed to make sure their schools are not “decrepit.”
This school board even neglected the installation of safety alarms. Isn’t the safety of students and teachers the top priority?
Apparently not in Broward County. As you might expect, these school board members ignored these problems–probably to prioritize making the teachers union happy.
DeSantis blasted these board members, calling their actions “inexcusable.” He said these members had “shown a pattern of emboldening unacceptable behavior.”
That included “fraud and mismanagement.” These are pretty serious allegations.
You have to wonder why it took the governor of the state to act on these board members.
Why isn’t there anyone else in Broward County holding these people accountable? Why were these members allowed to stay on the board, over four years after the horrible event?
Perhaps a few more people need to be suspended?
Key Takeaways:
- Florida Gov. DeSantis suspended four Broward County School Board Members.
- These members neglected the schools and were in part responsible for the shooting in February 2018.
- DeSantis accused them of “emboldening” acts like “fraud and mismanagement.”
