What’s Happening:

Conservatives have long worried about how social media giants are meddling in their free speech. We learned not long ago that Facebook censored Hunter Biden stories in 2020 after the FBI ordered it.

But it seems the social network went much further in helping the federal government. They might have violated our constitutional rights.

From New York Post:

Facebook has been spying on the private messages and data of American users and reporting them to the FBI if they express anti-government or anti-authority sentiments — or question the 2020 election — according to sources within the Department of Justice…

“It was done outside the legal process and without probable cause,” alleged one of the sources…

These private messages then have been farmed out as “leads” to FBI field offices around the country, which subsequently requested subpoenas from the partner US Attorney’s Office in their district to officially obtain the private conversations that Facebook already had shown them.

This is a very big deal. Whistleblowers within the DOJ revealed that Facebook was sending private messages to the FBI over the last 19 months.

They were flagging messages by anyone who questioned the 2020 Election or expressed any “anti-government” messages.

As you can imagine, nearly everyone they were flagging was either anti-Biden or pro-Trump.

After the FBI received these private messages (illegally it seems), they would then send a subpoena to Facebook.

The social network would send over “gigabytes of data and photos” of these users. The vast majority of the time, according to the report, the FBI found nothing criminal.

Whistleblowers said this was a waste of time.

Regardless, if these allegations are true, both Facebook and the DOJ violated America’s free speech rights and rights to privacy.

The government cannot do anything that “chills” free speech. Nor can it gain access to citizens’ personal documents (including private messages) without a warrant based on probable cause.

But these allegations show that the FBI was ignoring these restrictions. And Facebook employees were all too happy to help them.

Why? Because they were targeting conservatives!

When you consider Joe Biden’s recent claims, that MAGA Republicans are “threats,” you realize how serious this is.

Was the FBI compiling a database of Republicans they can harass or persecute? Are they trying to suppress the freedoms of Americans, to help Democrats win elections?

The concerns are endless. If Republicans and citizens don’t demand answers, there is no justice in this country.
