Republicans Fire Major Accusation at Big Tech – They Claim 22 Million RNC Emails Were “Suppressed” By Google

What’s Happening:

With the midterms just around the corner, both parties are working overtime to secure support. Even a single donation can mean the difference in a race–and everyone knows it.

So, you can imagine our shock over this recent bombshell. The Republican Party is setting their sites on Google.

They’ve accused the Internet provider of a major accusation.

From Fox News:

The Republican National Committee says Google is suppressing get-out-the-vote and fundraising emails by sending millions of GOP election emails to users’ Gmail spam folders, with party leadership threatening to explore legal options to “put an end” to what they call a “clear pattern of bias.”

According to RNC officials, emails being sent by the RNC to Republican subscribers who use Gmail accounts in the final days of each month are being sent to spam folders…

On Sept. 28, Gmail spammed more than 3.1 million RNC emails. The next day, Gmail spammed more than 9.8 million RNC emails, and on Sept. 30, Gmail spammed more than 9.97 million RNC mails.

According to RNC officials, they’ve tried to get Google’s attention for months, but have received “no resolution.”

A chart provided by the party showed that, almost like clockwork, emails sent out at the end of the month were filed as spam.

This is critical because end-of-the-month emails often get the most support. That’s because many people wait until the end of a deadline to send support.

It seems Google is being deliberate with this attempt to suppress Republican emails.

It’s no secret that both parties–and all of their candidates–send out numerous emails during an election cycle.

Users can simply opt-out if they don’t want to receive these messages. But Google appears to be hiding emails from people who would otherwise have supported Republicans.

Americans have been suspicious of this kind of thing for years. Google and other Big Tech companies have dodged responsibility because this is hard to prove.

Google can just make up an excuse and the government wouldn’t be the wiser. Showing just how powerful this company is–and how it needs to be reigned in.

That doesn’t change the possibility that Google is trying to influence the elections through a form of censorship.

And that’s something everyone should be worried about.

Key Takeaways:

  • The RNC accused Google of suppressing their emails.
  • Fundraising emails sent at the end of the month were put into spam folders.
  • People have long raised suspicions of Google censoring content before an election.
