Remember when Paul Ryan was riding high, picked to be Mitt Romney’s vice presidential running mate?
How times have changed. The mood of the country is very different than it was four years ago, as the House Speaker is finding out the hard way.
Ryan may be a Republican, but he’s an “open borders” one and that stance is coming back to haunt him.
Donald Trump was applauded for giving parents of children killed by illegal aliens a platform at the RNC, and now others are expressing their outrage even more directly.
According to Breitbart.com:
American mothers, whose children were killed by illegal aliens, say that House Speaker Paul Ryan and members of his security detail fled from his guarded estate on Saturday as they attempted to present Ryan with the photos of their murdered children, and show him the true cost of his open borders agenda. (…)
“Paul Ryan is personally responsible for the deaths, maimings, and sexual assaults of thousands of innocent Americans and lawful residents,” the mothers wrote in a letter to Speaker Ryan, which they left in front of his guarded estate.
“Paul Ryan has never shown one millionth the passion in defense of our families as he has spent advocating for policies that would result in the deaths of more Americans… Paul Ryan has used his his positions of power—as a Republican Party leader, as a budget leader, as Speaker of the House, and as an intimate of large corporations with unlimited resources—to ignore and even undermine American interests.”
The mothers are endorsing Wisconsin businessman Paul Nehlen, who hopes to unseat Ryan in the August 9 primary with his promise to crack down on illegal immigration. That this issue has galvanized Americans as far away from the southern border as Wisconsin is just another indication that politicians like Paul Ryan increasingly seem to be irrelevant.
