Those of us who have been watching the United Nations for any number of years are often faced with pressing questions.
An organization decided to preventing war, genocide, and promoting healthy relationships with countries frequently fails to do so.
The collected might of the world’s leading nations cannot prevent terrorists from attack civilians, warlords from slaughtering villages, or nations bombing or invading other nations. It seems that the entire UN is more concerned with maintain political popularity than doing the right thing.
This has never been more true than with the recent resolution on Israel. It is an insult to that nation and all its citizens.
But there are some in the United States that won’t be silent about it.
During Tuesday’s “Fox & Friends,” former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR) suggested taking a jackhammer to the United Nations after the Security Council voted to condemn Israeli settlements.

“I think we ought to get jackhammers and we ought to jackhammer the whole thing off, float it into the East River,” Huckabee said. “Ask anybody who would like to host it, to come pick it up, haul it off. And it’ll be a lot easier to park in Manhattan after we get rid of it.”
The resolution condemned Israel for expanding it settlements for its people, thus making that nation that has fought for decades to exist an enemy in the eyes of the UN. Even worse was the U.S.’s refusal to veto the resolution, under President Obama’s guidance.
Such a resolution would give the UN power to put sanctions on Israel, or ban them from conducting trade with other countries. It can give power to their enemies to steal land or even attack civilians.
The very organization meant to protect nations and help them thrive is now a tool to destroy them.
Many Americans believe that without the U.S.’s support, they’d be no UN. Huckabee’s colorful words agree with many Americans, who would rather see the organization leave America and allow someone else to deal with it.
