John McCain SLAMS President Trump…But The American Sniper’s Widow Is Having None Of It – BOOM!

When Donald Trump insulted Senator John McCain during his run for the White House last year, many sombrely intoned that it would be the end of Trump’s campaign.

As a former P.O.W., McCain is widely regarded as a national hero and therefore above reproach. But to the surprise of many “experts,” Trump’s glib remark about McCain’s military service didn’t prevent him from winning the presidency.

The fact is, no one should be considered beyond the reach of criticism, especially when they misspeak. McCain is finding this out when his ill-worded comments about one event hit too close to home for one military spouse.

McCain had issued a statement following the U.S. led raid in Yemen in which some al-Qaida operatives had been killed, along with Navy SEAL William Ryan Owens, that read in part:

“Every military operation has objectives. And while many of the objectives of the recent raid in Yemen were met, I would not describe any operation that results in the loss of American life as a success. Going forward, I am confident that our military will act on lessons learned from this operation to strengthen our fight against our terrorist enemies.”

As a few critics have quipped, this would seem to indicate that John McCain considers the D-Day operation a failure too. But Taya Kyle wasn’t laughing.

Kyle, the widow of “American Sniper” who is now a Fox News contributor, said:

He certainly could apologize to the family for saying it was a failure because that insinuates that his life was given for nothing and it wasn’t. They got 14 high-value targets. That’s a big deal. These guys went in and risked their lives, and they were very successful.

The President himself, who had quietly attended the repatriation of Owen’s remains, took to Twitter to slam McCain’s comments:

It’s likely that McCain was actually trying to express sorrow at the loss of Owens’ life, but clearly his statement didn’t convey this idea successfully and ended up creating unnecessary tension.

Looks like the feud between McCain and Trump is destined to continue.
