Johnny Depp Demands Trump’s Assassination, But He Didn’t Expect This Instant Backlash

It is quite ironic that after years of enforcing PC culture and policing speech, liberals have suddenly developed a sense of humor.

Granted, I would not call it a sense of humor. It is more like a sick, perverted form of self-expression.

What I am referring to, of course, is the newest trend coming from liberal celebrities: threatening to assassinate President Donald Trump.

Liberals are still so hysterical over Trump’s election that they are willing to say almost anything about him, even if it contradicts all conventions of common decency.

Back in the day, no matter how much one hated the president, it was still frowned upon to threaten to murder him. Americans were reasonably skittish around those who said they would assassinate the president, most likely because four presidents have indeed been murdered while in office.

Furthermore, people are generally opposed to murder. No one wants to see a husband and father get killed, even if he also happens to be the leader of the free world.

Liberals, however, do not think the same way as everybody else. Hollywood liberals are especially unique, because they are so used to having no consequences for their actions.

As of this week, one more Hollywood liberal can be added to the list of would-be Trump assassins.

From The New York Times:

LONDON — The actor Johnny Depp is the latest American entertainment figure to suggest — however jokingly, ironically or obliquely — the killing of President Trump.

Speaking on Thursday at the Glastonbury arts festival in southwest England, Mr. Depp asked the audience, “Can you bring Trump here?”

The remark was met with booing and jeering, and he continued: “You misunderstand completely. When was the last time an actor assassinated a president? I want to clarify: I’m not an actor. I lie for a living. However, it’s been awhile, and maybe it’s time.”

The words were being interpreted as an allusion to the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth, an actor, in 1865.

Since when is any of this acceptable in public discourse?

Liberals love to use the phrase “this is not normal” whenever President Trump does something new or unconventional. The reality, however, is that everything Trump does is one thousand times more normal than a group of celebrities publicly threading to murder the president.

Liberals are trying to pretend that there is nothing wrong with such rhetoric. They claim that people say crazy things all the time, and that America is all about free expression.

To counter that argument, I bring up two points.

First, when was the last time a famous conservative threatened to kill Obama?

The fact that you probably had to Google the answer to that question (I certainly did) shows that absolutely nothing of this magnitude happened during the Obama administration. Nothing at all.

Second, how come the Left all of a sudden wants to protect free speech?

Liberals hate it when conservatives speak their minds. They say certain words are “microagressions” that trigger racism and every “phobia” in the books, and they invented the concept of PC to control what people say.

Did they abandon that mission when they started to protect death threats as free speech?

Liberals cannot have it both ways. Either they should let conservatives say whatever they want, or they should stop threatening President Trump.

Maybe President Trump will make liberals end up doing both. Until that day, the secret service has their work cut out for them.
