What’s Happening:

The city of Los Angeles was rocked when leaked audio containing racial attacks by their city council president, Nury Martinez.

It seems the Democrat was caught making derisive remarks against another council member, who is white, against his black son. Other audio revealed Martinez insulting the LA district attorney over his supposed allegiance to black people.

Protesting and backlash erupted instantly. Calls came in fast for her resignation. And so, the inevitable happened. From Fox News:

Martinez stepped down as council president on Monday and said she was taking a leave of absence, but critics said it was not good enough.

Pressure for Martinez to resign increased as the audio circulated. Even Joe Biden–who generally has no clue what is going on–apparently called on her to resign.

Initially, Martinez stepped down as president and was going to take a “leave of absence.” That is how hungry she was for power. Even after being outed for horrible, racist comments, she refused to resign.

In her resignation letter, she sounded arrogant and unrepentant. She even appeared to defend herself by saying, “please know that I was in this fight for you.”

Really, girl? You were caught insulting a black child, yet you have the gall to be spewing campaign talking points? The woman doesn’t sound like she’s resigning in disgrace but mounting a political agenda. This is the end result of the left’s love of identity politics. Martinez actually thinks she can salvage her career by resigning, issuing an empty apology, and just waiting out the news cycle.

But voters have real reason to worry about this woman. She had no problem saying the very worst things about black Americans–when she thought the public wouldn’t hear.

Why should anyone think she won’t continue harboring those sentiments in the future?

Democrats have refused to forgive celebrities, conservatives, and other people who were outed for making insensitive remarks. They often say, “Once a racist, always a racist.” It doesn’t matter how many times someone apologizes, they will forever be branded a bigot by the liberal mob.

But this woman thinks she gets to worm out of this situation–with just a letter?
