Throughout his campaign for President, Donald Trump promised major improvements to the country’s infrastructure.
We all know this nation needs some improvements. So much money is spent overseas and on frivolous programs. Meanwhile, our roads, bridges, and airports are in disrepair. As a man with great pride in his country, Trump wants to change that.
Allegedly his infrastructure plan leaked online. While people pour over the details, there is a little surprise at the end. One that will mean big things for veterans.
Below is a leaked draft document with plans for the White House infrastructure plan, a key campaign priority of President Trump.
Comment from White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters: “We are not going to comment on the contents of a leaked document but look forward to presenting our plan in the near future…
According to the document, the Veterans Affairs will get some impressive improvements. Including:
- State-of-the-art facilities
- Authorize VA to retain proceeds from sales of properties
- Authorize VA to exchange existing facilities for construction of new facilities
- Authorize pilot for VA to exchange land or facilities for lease of space
- Increase threshold above which VA is required to obtain Congressional authorization for leases.
Which means, if this document is true, Trump is gearing up to provide historical improvements for Veterans Affairs.
It’s clear that Trump is using his plans to improve infrastructure to give VA the changes he’s promised. Veterans Affairs often suffers from budgeting limitations. It’s a crime, but the government frequently neglects the VA, in order to dump cash into other coffers.
But these changes, while seeming minor, will provide cash for the VA. It will allow the VA to lease or sell property, keep the cash, and use it for its own improvements. This measure will give the VA control over its own funding and spending. It effectively cuts the federal government out of the equation.
This would certainly provide a huge injection of funds for the suffering agency. It also means that perhaps veterans will start getting the help they deserve.
Hopefully, if this plan is real, it will reach Congress and be approved in record time.
