One of the reasons many Americans love the Trump/Pence administration, is because of how these men speak their minds.
They are strong leaders with real conviction. They don’t believe in playing political games, but speaking the truth.
That’s just what Vice President Mike Pence did when he had the opportunity to speak to the UN Human Rights Council.
Boy, did the fur fly!
Vice President Mike Pence spoke before world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly in New York City on Wednesday and claimed the U.N. Human Rights Council “attracts and welcomes many of the worst human rights violators in the world.”
“A clear majority of the Human Rights Council’s members fail to meet even the most basic human rights standards,” Pence said.
Pence went on to call out offending nations by name:
“Cuba sits on the Human Rights Council, an oppressive regime that has repressed its people and jailed political opponents for more than half a century. Venezuela sits on the Human Rights Council, a dictatorship that undermines democracy at every turn, imprisons political opponents, and, as we speak, is advancing policies that worsen deprivation and poverty that is costing the lives of innocent men, women, and children.”
Boom! That’s just what that corrupt, dishonest, and polluted council needed to hear. Imagine, a group that is supposed to end human rights violation around the world has some of the worst violators on their board! That was done deliberately, so that those nations wouldn’t be forced to change the way the treat their people.
But when you have a man like Mike Pence in the room, those realities won’t be ignored! He hammered at the Council for ignoring the gross crimes Cuba and Venezuela have committed to their own people.
Pence ended his commons by urging the U.N. group to reform itself, saying, “This body must reform the Human Rights Council’s membership and its operation.”
Amen. Perhaps the council will heed his words and actual work to protect people, rather than betray them.
