It has been standard policy for over 30 years that America does not negotiate with terrorists. In 1985, Ronald Reagan said, “America will never make concessions to terrorists—to do so would only invite more terrorism.”
So it comes as a shock to all Americans today to discover that Barack Obama has done just that. He has negotiated with terrorists, paying them off for the return of prisoners.
What makes this even more unbelievable is that the country was already outraged by the exchange, but had no idea that there was payment specifically for our people. Which is clearly negotiating with terrorists.
Seemingly violating the claim that America doesn’t negotiate with terrorists and hostage takers, reports have revealed that the Obama administration organized an airlift to transport $400 million in cash to Tehran which coincided with the January release of four Americans taken prisoner by Iran.
Reports say wooden pallets stacked with a variety of currencies were loaded onto an unmarked cargo plane and flown to Iran. American officials procured the money from banks in Switzerland and the Netherlands, according to the The Wall Street Journal report.
Obama’s administration had been pressured throughout the “negotiation” to include the return of our prisoners in any nuclear deal with Iran to halt their nuclear program. It is widely known that the deal is a total sham, barely delaying Iran’s nuclear ambitions, and the prisoners were never part of that deal. Only after it had been completed did Obama make an additional deal.
Iranian news sources reported at the time that the prisoners were released in a “prisoner swap” brokered by the Obama administration.
Not only did the administration return seven Iranians but it was said the Obama also agreed to drop U.S. sanctions against Iran as the nuclear deal was being crafted. It was felt that the prisoner release was meant to keep Republicans from criticizing Obama’s nuclear deal.
But there was one piece missing:
However, no mention was made of the secret transfer of $400 million in cash to Iran until now.
Obama is now claiming that this is part of a reparations payment from 1979 and they will send additional installments in the future. It just so “happened” to be sent over the same day as our prisoners were released.
We need a better negotiator in the White House. We also need someone who clearly acts in the interest of America and not in the interest of terrorist states. A probe has already begun, and this may be an impeachable offense. So close to the 2016 election, voters know what they can do to keep foreign policy like this from continuing.
