Attorney General Jeff Sessions strolled up to the microphone Tuesday morning to formally announce President Donald Trump’s decision to pull the plug on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
DACA came to life under former President Barack Obama’s watch, and it was essentially forced through without any consideration given to its long-term consequences or constitutionality.
Despite that, Trump’s decision was spun to fit the liberal narrative. As always, faux outrage and mock indignation would soon follow.
Former President Obama in particular found himself hot under the collar after the announcement.
The Daily Wire reports:
Former President Barack Obama called President Donald Trump’s decision to do away with the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program contrary to the American spirit and common sense in a Facebook post on Tuesday, where he made unfounded claims regarding the effects of rescinding DACA.
Obama’s Facebook post appealed to people’s emotions as he called Trump’s decision “cruel” and “self-defeating” while he praised DACA recipients as “patriots who pledge allegiance to our flag.”
You can find the full post at the bottom—it is so long and verbose, it’s the size of that man’s ego.
Obama could’ve saved a whole lot of space on the interwebs by writing something along the lines of ‘Trump is really bad, but I’m still great,’ but he decided to pull at the heartstrings to prove how darn horrified he is by Trump’s latest decision.
Traditionally, former presidents will refrain from offering up public commentary about the actions of their successor, but tradition can apparently be damned when Obama’s legacy is at stake.
Quite simply, it was a temporary decision that he bullied through without following the proper channels.
The Trump administration is now tasked with cleaning that up, in addition to an inordinate amount of other things that the Obama administration left in disarray.
Of course, Obama still stands firm on the fact that DACA is just the most wonderful thing in the world, and anyone that views otherwise is a troubled human being.
The former president concluded his statement by saying the decision was about morals and basic human decency and that the goal of America should be to reach a more “perfect union.” Nowhere in Obama’s statement did he reference the need to protect American jobs and interests aside from briefly mentioning, “We all want safe, secure borders.”
As per usual, Obama is using poetic license to paint the picture he wants the world to see.
In essence, he’s saying that everyone covered by the DACA program is an exceptional human being that deserves all of the rights and privileges afforded by his decision.
It’s a statistical impossibility for everyone covered by a specific program to be as exceptional as he claims them to be, but that’s neither here nor there.
The bottom line is that it was a poorly thought out and sloppily executed program to begin with, and the Trump administration has set its sights on fixing it.
Immigration can be a controversial topic. We all want safe, secure borders and a dynamic economy, and people of goodwill…
