All across America, there are individuals who fiercely protect their Constitutional rights. They believe that the freedom of speech, press and religion are fundamental to their way of life. The right to bear arms is paramount in protecting those freedoms.
Every year, though, we see the federal government trying to encroach on our rights. They pass laws meant to vilify religion, free speech, even free press. Above all else they try to limit American citizen’s access to firearms, and portray gun owners as dangerous fanatics.
But there’s a group that’s had enough.
From Washington Post:
Deep in the heart of a vast U.S. military training ground, surrounded by spent shotgun shells and juniper trees blasted to shreds, the Central Oregon Constitutional Guard was conducting its weekly firearms training.
“The intent is to be able to work together and defend ourselves if we need to,” said Soper, 40, a building contractor who is an emerging leader in a growing national movement rooted in distrust of the federal government, one that increasingly finds itself in armed conflicts with authorities.
Those in the movement call themselves patriots, demanding that the federal government adhere to the Constitution and stop what they see as systematic abuse of land rights, gun rights, freedom of speech and other liberties. (Washington Post)
Oregon and the surrounding region has been the center of conflicts with the federal government in recent years. As cronies from Washington continue to deprive citizens of their land and rights, the locals are realizing they have to take matter into their own hands. They believe it is the only way to prevent the tyranny of D.C.
The COCG started two years ago with just 30 people. Since then it continues to grow. The members come from all walks of life, handymen, nurses, even students. They are trained in the safe, responsible use of firearms as well as basic infantry tactics like First Aid. This group isn’t messing around.
Of course the government doesn’t like the sound of these Patriots. They have been watching them for some time, probably looking for an excuse to arrest the lot of them.
Law enforcement officials and the watchdog groups that track the self-styled “patriot” groups call them anti-government extremists, militias, armed militants or even domestic terrorists. Some opponents of the largely white and rural groups have made fun by calling them “Y’all Qaeda” or “Vanilla ISIS.” (Washington Post)
How typical of leftists. They have no means of confronting true Americans, so they resort to name-calling. The reality is these people are simply exercising their Constitutional rights, rights that Democrats would gladly abolish, if they had the power.
As we continue down a path of increased government oversight, don’t be surprised to see more groups like this pop up. We as Americans must defend our rights and never allow tyranny to rule us. Whether we join a group like COCG or find other ways to defend the Constitution, it’s up to us, no matter what.
