What’s Happening:
News came out that, on the night he was arrested, Paul Pelosi tried to get out of it.
He even flashed his membership card to a police charity–which was against their rules.
Now, it looks like that charity is revoking his membership.
From Daily Caller:
A California police association has kicked out Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul, after he allegedly flashed his membership card to police officers during his DUI arrest, the association announced Thursday…
“In our letter to Mr. Pelosi, we requested that he return all membership items he was issued upon joining the 11-99 Foundation,” the association said.
Well, at least a little bit of justice was done. Americans were sickened after finding out the Speaker’s husband would suffer little from his DUI arrest.
(Even though he pleaded guilty to smashing into another car.)
But when he was arrested, he handed police his CHP 11-99 membership card. CHP 11-99 is a police charity that supplies scholarships to police children.
There would have been no reason for him to do this–unless he was trying to campaign for special treatment.
The foundation could not sit back and let this happen. Critics would accuse the charity of selling “get out of jail” cards, essentially.
So, they revoked Pelosi’s membership and required him to return membership items, including that card. They would also be returning the donations he made, to make things square.
Pelosi only faced a short jail time and limited punishment for his DUI arrest. Many complained that someone not married to a congresswoman would have suffered worse.
But getting kicked out of a police charity is a kind of poetic justice. Pelosi didn’t get out of this Scott-free.
He has been disgracefully kicked out of a charity that helps kids because he tried to get special treatment.
And this will be an embarrassing episode that Nancy Pelosi will try to live down for years.
Key Takeaways:
- A police charity kicked out Paul Pelosi after his DUI arrest.
- Pelosi tried to get special treatment by showing his card during his arrest.
- The charity requested the return of all items and they will refund his donation.
