As expected, Nancy Pelosi’s husband Paul will face minimal consequences for what he did. He pleaded guilty to his DUI charge. But will he face the kind of punishment you and I would?

Hardly.

The House Speaker’s husband, 82, must complete a three-month impaired driver program, nine hours of a court work program and put an ignition interlock device on his car for a year.

He was given five days of jail time, with credit for time served.

But it seems like he might have gotten special treatment from the moment he was arrested.

On Tuesday, as the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi pleaded guilty to DUI for a May 28 crash, dashcam video from the scene was released showing that he told officers, “I am a high-profile person.”

When Paul Pelosi was arrested for drunk driving, he told the cops he was a “high-profile person.”

Oh, so I guess that means high-profile people can’t hurt anyone when they are driving drunk? The laws of physics don’t apply?

If you’re a high-profile person, it doesn’t matter if you get wasted and try to drive. It doesn’t matter, even if you smash into another car.

A “high-profile person” can get away with anything. And it seems that is true.

Pelosi got a slap on the wrist. He will not be facing any serious jail time. Nor will he lose his license, something just about everyone suffers when convicted of a DUI.

He gets to attend a driver program and 9 hours of a work program. But something tells me he’ll find a way to delay all of that if he wants.

From the very start of this saga, we saw police giving Pelosi special treatment. He slipped him his donor card, showing he throws a lot of money their way.

They failed to release his mugshots until much later. And now, Pelosi will not face anything close to serious punishment.

Is that justice for all? Is that equal treatment under the law? Shouldn’t Paul face the same consequences, regardless of his wealth or his wife?

I guess the courts don’t think so.
