As we’ve reported in the past, Germany has been expressing a distrust for the massive amounts of Muslim refugees flooding their country.
Since their leadership, under the helm of Angela Merkel, seems to be ignoring the people’s cries, new groups have formed in answer.
Alternative für Deutschland (Alternative for Germany) is a recently formed political group that is taking action and making big claims.
They seem not to be afraid to express thoughts that resonant with the attitudes of everyday Germans.
Their spokesperson, Frauke Petry, 40, had this to say about Muslim immigrants:
Ms Petry told the Mannheimer Morgen daily that a border police officer ‘must stop illegal border crossings, and also make use of his firearm if necessary.’
She added that: ‘no policeman wants to fire on a refugee and I don’t want that either. But the last resort includes the use of armed force.’

This strong stance against potential illegals isn’t as extreme as some might believe. Her comments coincide with the worries that the German government lacks the ability to regulate the significant influx of refugees pouring in from the Middle East and other parts. Germans worry how many terrorists and other dangerous individuals are sneaking in as well.
Germany saw nearly 1.1 million asylum-seekers enter the country last year and the AfD has been gaining in support as more people question whether the government will be able to deal with the influx.
We like to reiterate that this is in no way extremism, in light of the terrorists attacks of 2015 that occurred around the world. Paris is only right next door to Germany, so they are justified in their worries.
As political right-wingers like Petry take their stand, other countries are taking necessary measures.
Neighbor Austria has upped their policies regarding immigrants, adding countries like Morocco and Algeria as safe zones to which they can send people back.
In light of these kinds of fears, America needs to take action. If predominantly liberal nations in Europe are expressing their concerns over Muslim migrants, how much more should we?
We already know our current president has a lenient attitude towards Muslims. Maybe the next one won’t be so cavalier.
