Memorial Day holds a special place in American hearts.
So many of us have lost loved ones who gave their time, their talent, and ultimately their lives for the safety and security of this great nation.
Donald Trump proved himself up to the job when he honored our brave men and women, and he specifically honored selectmen, such as General John Kelly’s son, Robert Kelly, who fought and died fighting the enemy in Afghanistan.
But Trump also honored lesser-known men whose families continue to honor their husband’s and father’s sacrifices.
One such family had an amazing encounter with President Trump on this Memorial Day.
Trump also toured the cemetery’s Section 60, which holds the graves of those who served since 2001 in the global war on terrorism. The president gave a high-five to Christian Jacobs, 8, who was dressed in a Marine uniform, and was there with his mother, Brittany Jacobs.
His father, Marine Sgt. Christopher Jacobs, was killed in 2011.
Here is Donald cheering on Christian and honoring him for his family’s sacrifice.
What a moving story! This is not on the front page of the Washington Post – instead they attack honorable men like President Trump each day.
Instead Trump takes this day to honor sweet families who know the value of American freedom and the painful price it was bought for – with the blood of our men and women.
Memorial Day is a special day of honor and celepration, but let us, as Americans, take the time to honor those we have lost for the sake of freedom each and every day.
Let us vow to live and fight, and even die, to keep America the land of the free and the home of the brave.
