Even Trump did not see these numbers coming, and they’re only good for one party.

While Republicans clearly have their man for 2020 in President Trump, Democrats are considering a wide variety of candidates to run against him.

It was a clear choice for the Democrats back in 2008 to nominate Barack Obama, and then to nominate Hillary Clinton in 2016.

They’re the party of identity politics, so having a minority and a woman vying to be their nominees made the decision relatively easy.

But with Clinton’s epic defeat in 2016, it seems the Party is now moving in the opposite direction.

Instead of picking a young minority to revitalize the stagnant Party, a new poll is suggesting that the Democrats are going back to their roots to try to beat Trump in 2020.

A new Morning Consult/Politico poll released on Monday found former United States Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders favored most by Democrats for the party’s 2020 nomination.

Biden ranked first with 26 percent of Democrats supporting him as the party’s next nominee, followed closely by Sen. Sanders, who is preferred by 19 percent.

Of the 773 Democrats surveyed, 31 percent selected another one of the 18 candidates as their choice for the party’s nominee in the 2020 election, while 21 percent remain undecided or have no opinion.

It’s ironic that the Party that rails against old white men only wants old white men for 2020.

Trump has to be happy about this. The Democrats have no good options, and running Biden or Bernie will depress turnout with their base.

Poor Elizabeth Warren tried to pass herself off as Native American just to have a better shot at the nomination – look how that turned out.

And even as rumors fly that Hillary wants one more shot, it doesn’t look like even her own Party wants that.

If Democrats can’t produce a moderate candidate who appeals to Independents, they’re in serious trouble of losing 2020 in a landslide.

The media won’t want anyone to see this poll, because everyone will know Trump is in a strong position to win in 2020.
