The balance of power on the Supreme Court has always been a major battle between liberals and conservatives.
Democrats attempted to swing the pendulum in their direction after the passing of Justice Scalia, but mercifully failed to appoint the hard leftist Merrick Garland.
Now, multiple sources are speculating that there may be a shocking plot twist concerning the fate of the Supreme Court in the near future.
According to Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Ted Cruz (R-TX), Trump may be nominating another Supreme Court Justice mere months after confirming Justice Neil Gorsuch.
From The Daily Wire:
On Tuesday, during a Q&A session in the town of Muscatine, Grassley posited, “I would expect a resignation this summer.” Grassley was echoing Texas Senator Ted Cruz who said last week, “I think we’re likely to see another vacancy potentially as soon as this summer.”
While it’s unclear which Justice would be resigning, conservatives are obviously hoping it will be a liberal, preferably the uber left-wing Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
The 84-year-old two-time cancer survivor certainly seems as though she could use the rest, although she’s stated in the past that she doesn’t want a conservative to replace her.
If she truly is considering retirement, she really should have done it in Obama’s time, considering her successor will most definitely be a conservative.
Should Trump appoint another Justice, he has stated he will choose from the same list of candidates he pulled from to appoint Justice Gorsuch.
At this point this is all pure conjecture, but if there’s anything we’ve come to learn from modern day politics, it’s to expect the unexpected.
What do you think? Would this have a massive impact on American policy for the coming generation? Let us know in the comments below!
