Along with the celebrations, there were a few ungrateful Americans determined to try to ruin the Fourth of July for everyone else. For example, one left wing media outlet ran a story claiming that the American Revolution had been a horrible idea, and some readers spent much of their holiday weekend denouncing the article on social media.
One young fellow went further and tried to grab some free publicity with an unpatriotic stunt, but it backfired, big time.
Mad World News reports:
Social justice warrior Bryton Mellott thought he’d be cute and burn an American flag for the 4th of July. He posted the pictures of his “bravery” online, but the 22-year-old Walmart employee from Savoy, Illinois wasn’t expecting his antics to backfire in a big way.
Mellott’s written statement denounced so-called “atrocities” against various minority groups, including his “own queer community.” Ironically, he also condemned “hatred,” although his screed was a list of people he loathed, such as “gun manufacturers.”
However, the story continues:
[D]ue to the overwhelming calls to police, this un-American idiot is now behind bars where he belongs. Mellott has now been charged with Section 49-1 flag desecration, a class four felony in Illinois. He’s also been charged with disorderly conduct.
This young man now has a criminal record. There’s no word on whether or not he’s still a Walmart employee. If he is, it would be interesting to learn how customers at the Savoy, Illinois store have responded to Mellott’s stupidity.
