No matter how mean spirited they may be, most stereotypes only persist if they contain an element of truth. This next story is the perfect example.
Most conservatives have always known this particular stereotype to be accurate, but now that have hard evidence to prove it!
How often have we made fun of “professional activists” like the Occupy Wall Street crowd as “living in their parents’ basement” or as young men and women who “need to get a job”? Did you ever think you’d be able to point to an actual study to show just how true that is?
Charles Nash at Breitbart writes:
92 percent of left-wing activists in Berlin, Germany, live with their parents, while one in three are unemployed, according to a report by Bild.
The data was based off of 873 political activists, who had been investigated by authorities between 2003 and 2013. 84% of those investigated were men, while 73% were between the ages of 18 and 29.
That’s funny in a sad sort of way, but this next fact is truly disturbing:
Left-wing activists were also reportedly responsible for the attempted murder of eleven people between 2009 and 2013.
So much for peace and love!
Of course, these statistics refer to German youth, so it is hard to say right now how closely they match the situations of American “progressives.”
We also don’t know if those German youth are unemployed due to dire economic circumstances or if they are jobless by choice, living off the country’s generous benefits schemes so they can continue to protest.
However, the fact remains that this provides another reason not to take leftwing activists seriously. Few have any real world experience and live pretty spoiled lives. That is true the world over.
