With Biden crashing and burning in D.C.—and Democrats with him—many Americans are pinning their hopes on the next election. Biden’s approval is so bad, he might not have much of a chance at reelection. And his VP, Kamala Harris, has an even worse approval rating.
But the question remains, who will take up the reins in the GOP to win back the White House? Many have looked to Donald Trump, hoping the 45th president will come back to become our 47th. But 2016’s “runner-up” has something to say. And he’s ready to jump in—for a 2024 run.

Sen. Ted Cruz ran for president in the 2016 presidential primaries. He got very close to winning the nomination, beat out by Donald Trump. But now, the Texas senator says he has not ruled out a 2024 run, saying he wants to “pull this country back from the abyss.”
A big part of his decision to run will depend on Donald Trump. He said “we’ll see” what the 45th president is going to do. During the Republican primaries, Cruz and Trump were heated rivals. But after Trump entered office, the senator became one of his most dedicated supporters.
Even as some Republicans turned on Trump after 2020, Cruz continued to stand by his side. So, we shouldn’t be surprised if Cruz refuses to run if Trump decides to enter the 2024 race.
But Cruz has made it very clear he is determined to “fight” for this country. He has been one of the most vocal critics of Joe Biden and the left’s socialist agenda. If things get much worse, he might feel obligated to run for president, in order to bring us back from the brink.
Other possibilities include a Trump/Cruz ticket. It’s possible that Trump will pick the celebrated senator to become his running mate. That would certainly win over many voters, who look to Cruz and the state of Texas for leadership in this dark time.
But who will end up representing the GOP in the next election? I guess we’ll find out between the midterms and 2024.
