I don’t think a major presidential candidate has ever picked a running mate with the intent of defeating a primary opponent.
But that may be exactly what Ted Cruz has planned.
It is widely believed that the California primary on June 7 will decide the nominee. If Trump goes in needing only a 100 delegates, the chance of stopping him becomes almost impossible…or does it?
Ted Cruz may be thinking the same thing and it looks like he may have an ace up his sleeve.
The Weekly Standard has the scoop…
Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign is vetting Carly Fiorina as a potential running mate, THE WEEKLY STANDARD has learned.
According to a spokeswoman for Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO and one-time presidential candidate is being vetted by Cruz’s campaign.
It would be a smart strategic play, selecting a moderate conservative woman from California ahead of the primary would give Cruz a huge boost in that state at the exact moment he needs it most, as a hay maker against Donald Trump’s first round delegate win.
We’ll have to wait and see how this plays out.
