After years of the left and LGBT groups shoving their policies down our throats, violating the religious freedoms of Americans, we are seeing the start of a turnaround.
States are standing up for freedom once again, passing laws that protect Americans and defend their religious liberties.
Recently Tennessee signed into law a new act that would allow therapists to refuse clients if what they needed violated their “sincerely held beliefs.”
From Conservative Tribune:
According to BuzzFeed (via WND), Tennessee’s Gov. Bill Haslam, a Republican, signed the bill into law Wednesday, allowing therapists and other mental health professionals to refuse clients without fear of being sued.
The law was bitterly protested by LGBT groups as well as the American Counseling Association. However, Haslam said that the law was necessary to protect the deeply held convictions of therapists as well as the mental health of their patients.
Of course LGBT groups have come out saying the law is “hateful.”
They’ve mounted online petitions to oppose it, simply because it flies in the face of their agenda. They want to force all Americans to embrace their lifestyles, even if it violated their own beliefs. That’s the opposite of freedom and certainly hateful.
Their opposition is especially ridiculous, given the law protects counselors of all stripes.
It simply allows them to refer a client to another professional, one that would certainly be more effective for their needs.
How is that wrong?
A relationship with one’s therapist is one of the most intimate, long-lasting professional medical relationships that a person can have. Given the amount of influence that therapist would have over my life, I would want to know whether they had a deeply held belief that something in my life I had no intention of changing was sinful or morally wrong.
But common sense opinions like that are ignored by the left, who don’t care about people’s mental health at all.
They are just trying to oppose a law that protects individual’s religious freedoms, in favor of their own agenda. They want us to live in a country were gays and transgender people are wholly protected by law and Christians and other religious groups are shackled, persecuted, and denied their fundamental rights.
Let’s not let them have their way.
It’s up to all of us to support leaders like the ones in Tennessee and push for our own state leaders to have the same kind of bravery.
