While the media praised Barack Obama’s time in office, most notably his vast social programs that put a massive burden on the country, they often overlooked his treatment of NASA.
The once proud organization that put men on the moon and helped study the universe was cut down during Obama’s presidency. The shuttle program was scrapped. Funding was cut. And the organization created to study outer space was retooled to prop up climate science and encourage Muslims to get into science.
Quite a far fall from “one small step for man.”
But we have a better future on the horizon. With Donald Trump soon to take over the White House, NASA will be restored to its former glory.
From Conservative Tribune:
President-elect Trump will take NASA out of the President Obama-led climate change business, said Bob Walker, a senior Trump adviser.
“We see NASA in an exploration role, in deep space research,” Walker told The U.K. Guardian. “Earth-centric science is better placed at other agencies where it is their prime mission.”
We can only speculate as to why Obama did what he did to NASA. Perhaps he despised space exploration. Perhaps as a president who’s goal was to push a radical social agenda, he wanted to force every agency to fall in line.
Regardless of the reason, under President Trump, NASA will be setting its sights back on the universe, where they always should have been.
