When a former Marine opened fire at a bar and killed 12 people, America was stunned.
Ian David Long was a dedicated military man but like many unfortunate veterans, he suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Sadly, that terrible burden was simply too much to bear.
After the tragedy at the Borderline Bar in Thousand Oaks, California (after which Long shot himself), a neighbor had this to say about the gunman’s mother:
“She lived in fear in case something happened. He wouldn’t get help. She was beside herself and didn’t know what to do.
She’s a wonderful woman but she was just going through hell with her son. Now she’s got to live with this.“
It is indeed a very sad and horrible thing.
And President Donald Trump, who has shown his love and respect for our military veterans, was quick to weigh in on the situation.
He first applauded the police and first responders, who were on the scene in less than 3 minutes.
Again, Trump always stands up for those who serve, and this includes cops, EMTs, and other emergency workers, all of whom do tremendous work.
Then he said something liberals will probably hate, because our President brought God into the mix:
“God bless all the victims and families of the victims.“
I have been fully briefed on the terrible shooting in California. Law Enforcement and First Responders, together with the FBI, are on scene. 13 people, at this time, have been reported dead. Likewise, the shooter is dead, along with the first police officer to enter the bar….

….Great bravery shown by police. California Highway Patrol was on scene within 3 minutes, with first officer to enter shot numerous times. That Sheriff’s Sergeant died in the hospital. God bless all of the victims and families of the victims. Thank you to Law Enforcement.

And of course, one of those victims is Long himself.
Trump was so fast to issue an official reply to this tragedy, it’s clear that he continues to support all Americans who work in dangerous situations.
As our President gives such critical situations priority, perhaps this will lead to positive changes.
Maybe this will result in more research done on PTSD and other mental disorders affecting our military veterans.
And perhaps we’ll get a better understanding of exactly what causes such disorders, and how best to defend against them.
Either way, Trump’s words tell us he’s on the right side; he stands for the people who matter MOST to this country.
Isn’t it fantastic to FINALLY have a leader like this?
