Donald Trump has already said he thinks the cost of the controversial F-35 fighter jet program is “ridiculous.”
He has also said $4 billion for a new Air Force One is equally absurd and has talked about bypassing that immense cost to America, another jewel in the newly affixed crown atop the President-elect’s head.
In short, it’s clear that despite those concerned about excessive spending during Trump’s administration, the new Commander-in-Chief is taking the opposite approach, and he’s starting to tackle the thorny issue right out of the gate.
As reported by Politico, Trump convened a meeting with top military officers with the goal of “trying to bring costs down” concerning the aforementioned F-35 project and other big-ticket Pentagon projects.
For the first time, Trump heard remarks from Air Force Lt. Gen. Chris Bogdan, who is in charge of the F-35 endeavor, and other individuals made their voices heard as well. When Trump escorted the military officials out, he told reporters that the focus of the meeting was indeed on how to keep costs down.
Trump also met separately with Lockheed Martin CEO Marillyn Hewson and Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg; don’t forget that Boeing has been tapped to deliver the new Air Force One fleet, which Trump has threatened to axe.
Upon the conclusion of the meeting, Trump said:
“These are amazing people and I’m very impressed with them. And they are good negotiators.”
A few even saluted Trump as they departed. The bottom line is that Donald Trump is their boss and they’re accepting this, and they’re already working with him. Maybe it’s time to buckle down and get to work after the Obama reign basically set the country back a few decades.
Yeah, you read that right, liberals.
