As President Joe Biden’s approval ratings continue to decline, the chances of a “red wave” in the future keep rising. America saw several shifts towards the GOP in this week’s state elections, for instance.
And when it comes to the 2024 presidential election, Democrats worry that Biden might not be in a good position. There’s a long way to go, of course, but things are looking tough right now.
On the flip side, former President Donald Trump is surging big-time.
Trump’s power and influence among the Republican party is well-documented. He went a perfect 4-0 on Election Day and many GOP candidates seek his valuable endorsement.
As more evidence, a recent poll proves that Trump still has immense support among the voters as well.
In an NPR/PBS/Marist National poll, the country made several strong statements. One of them is that even Democrats think Biden doesn’t give them the best chance of hanging onto the White House.
In regards to right-wing citizens, there’s really just one person who they want to run in 2024.
That person is the ultimate lightning rod in politics today, even though he’s no longer in charge on Capitol Hill. And if GOP-leaning voters have their way, he’ll get his job back.
Via The Daily Wire:
Fifty percent of Republicans and GOP-leaning independents think the party has ‘a better chance of winning the presidency in 2024’ if former President Donald Trump is the party’s nominee, according to a poll released earlier this week.
Only 35 percent of those polled wanted someone other than Trump to run on the Republican ticket.
In more bad news for the President, 44 percent of Democrats said they’d rather have another candidate, while only 36 percent still want Biden. A surprising 20 percent weren’t sure.
The poll also showed that nearly half (49 percent) disapprove of Biden’s job performance, while 44 percent approve.
Given the historically leftist leanings of NPR and PBS, this might raise some red flags among liberal politicians and citizens. We’re starting to see more Democrats who are wavering on Biden support.
As for POTUS, he doesn’t seem too worried.
Recently, Biden said the poll numbers fluctuate, so he’s not concerned about the current statistics. That being said, it should be noted that his approval rating has been on a steady decline for a few months.
Lastly, the poll showed a serious distrust in the current election system in America.
Only 62 percent said they’d trust the results of the 2024 election even if the candidate they support wins. 82 percent of Democrats will trust the results, but only 33 percent of Republicans.
Even worse, the vast majority — 89 percent of Republicans, 80 percent of Independents, 79 percent of Democrats – believe there’s a “serious threat” to our democracy.
These numbers might point toward a seismic shift in the future.
The 2022 midterm elections are first up, and they could reflect a major disapproval of the current administration. And if that disapproval keeps up, the red wave could strike again in 2024.
Key Takeaways:
- A recent poll shows that half of America believes Republicans have a “better chance” of retaking the White House in 2024 if Trump runs.
- At the same time, more Democrats want a candidate other than Joe Biden.
- The poll also shows a serious distrust in election integrity, and that most believe there’s a “serious threat” to democracy.
