Make no mistake: the Democrats are the ones dragging out this shutdown.

Numerous times, Donald Trump has extended the olive branch. But the Democrats prove they are the party of No.

As a result, the shutdown drags on, with ever-increasing consequences. Including thousands out of work, with no pay.

Now, the president is putting the pressure on the Senate to make a deal, with a smart, new request.

The White House pushed for a “large down payment” on President Donald Trump’s proposed border wall Thursday as part of a potential deal to reopen the government for three weeks…

Numerous senators from both parties pledged support for a continuing resolution to fund the government for three weeks, as real talks started to take shape for the first time since before the shutdown began…

“As was made clear to Senator Lindsay [sic] Graham, the 3 week CR would only work if there is a large down payment on the wall,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement.

President Trump has made it clear, time and again, that he’s ready to sign a bill to reopen the government.

His only condition is that we get the fall funded.

We all know that if we build the wall, crime will fall. I guess Democrats don’t care if you or your family is safe, huh?

Trump has stated that if Congress refuses to provide the funds, he will not sign anything.

Will the Senate grow up and make it happen? We’ll have to wait and see.

UPDATE: it looks like Schumer is folding and they will be temporarily opening the government up for a few weeks while final negotiations take place. We’ll have to wait for the details.
