All throughout his campaign, Donald Trump promised to use his own executive orders to undo the orders of his predecessor. And from Day One, he hasn’t disappointed his supporters!
Every day brings new reports of Trump signing such orders; so far, the one instituting a 90-day pause in immigration from seven violence-prone nations has received the most attention. It has even caused defiance from government officials and Trump’s decisive response in firing them.
However, if one news report can be believed, the president has one planned that will blow that erroneously called “Muslim ban” out of the water in terms of controversy:
Obtained by The Washington Post, the orders would reportedly “deny admission to any alien who is likely to become a public charge” and set up standards for “determining whether an alien is deportable … for having become a public charge within five years of entry.”
Being a “public charge” is another way of saying “receiving welfare and other ‘free’ government benefits.”
The underlying goal would be to make the U.S. immigration system more “merit-based” (…) According to New York magazine, the order would also “bar undocumented immigrants from accessing the child tax credit, even when their children are U.S. citizens,” which would be a huge blow to illegal immigrant families hoping to cash in on their anchor babies.
According to the Center for Immigration Studies, in 2012 approximately 51 percent of all immigrant households collected welfare.
For generations, citizens of Western nations, not just the United States, have complained that newcomers were living off welfare and getting other “free” goodies while taxpayers were forced to foot the bill. These people were often dismissed as “racists” by the elites, who are intent on pushing a multicultural, socialist utopia of future liberal voters.
(In fact, a secret document unearthed a few years ago proved that that had literally been the plan of the UK Labour Party all along: to replace native Britons with newcomers who would be more “appreciative” of Labour’s socialist agenda.)
If this report is true and Donald Trump is finally going to try to do what decent people have been clamoring for decades, the impact will be explosive. The debates over Obamacare will seem like garden parties in comparison!
Whatever one’s feelings about immigration, the simple fact is that America cannot continue to be so generous with its welfare and other entitlements if they are going to millions of individuals who haven’t paid into the system. It is unsustainable both financially and morally. It has to stop.
