Report: Vegas Shooter Failed His Primary Objective—Look What He Was Aiming At

While the memory of the horrible Las Vegas shooting remains strong in our minds, I know most of you are frustrated over the lack of news about the shooter. Why did he do it? Who was working with him? How was he able to accomplish this act of evil?

News is coming in bits and pieces each day. There have been rumors and conflicting stories. What we do know is that this was no “snap” decision on the part of the killer. He had planned this out for some time. He got prepared.

And, according to new reports, he was planning on making it much, much worse.

From Red State:

It is believed now that Paddock was hoping for an even bigger tragedy than the 58 dead and over 500 injured from that night…

Las Vegas Strip mass murderer Stephen Paddock used his Mandalay Bay hotel room to fire bullets at jet fuel tanks Sunday night, a knowledgeable source told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The bullets left two holes in one of two circular white tanks. One of the bullets penetrated the tank, but did not cause a fire or explosion near the Route 91 Harvest country music festival, another knowledgeable source said late Wednesday.

Investigators surmised that the second broken window on the east side of the Mandalay Bay Hotel room where Paddock was staying was to give him a better view of the tanks. The northeastern facing window gave him a view of the concert crowd.

The tanks were approximately 1,100 feet from the concert site. Construction crews have since repaired the holes, and the FBI has taken measurements from the tanks, which sit near hangars owned by prominent companies, to the hotel.

Jet fuel, as you can imagine, is incredibly explosive. Had Paddock been successful at igniting the fuel, the deal toll and injuries would have been catastrophically higher than they already were.

But generally speaking, fuel tanks are engineered to prevent leaks and fires. A single bullet cannot ignite the fuel—something that Paddock was not knowledgeable about.

That aside, it’s clear he was planning a larger bloodbath than what he did accomplish. We already learned of reports about explosives in his car. The amount of firepower that was found in his hotel room would have been enough to cause a tremendous amount of loss.

And if he had been lucky enough to ignite those tanks… let’s just be glad he failed there.

As more news of this terrible event comes out, we’ll be sure to bring it to you.
