Congress is set to pass a massive bill to fund the government. But it’s clear that anti-Trump lawmakers have controlled the entire process. They have denied the President—and his supporters—of his vital agenda.
The $1.3 trillion bill will have funding for numerous causes precious to Democrats. House Republicans did little to oppose them.
Now people are calling for the President to veto this bill if he wants his signature goal achieved.
The 2018 omnibus budget provides funds to build just 33 miles of new border fence in Texas and denies any funds for President Donald Trump’s preferred border walls…
The $641 million allocated for new fences is only 0.05 percent of the $1.3 trillion spending bill, or just 5 cents in a $100 bill…
Ryan, other GOP leaders and their allies, including Marc Short, Trump’s congressional outreach chief, have long opposed Trump’s populist agenda, despite its central role in the 2016 campaign. The business-first Republicans fear Trump’s populist agenda will help short the supply of cheap foreign labor to their business allies, and subsequently drive up Americans’ wages.
GOP leaders say the bill includes money for roughly 100 miles of fencing — but that number includes roughly 77 miles of second- fending or fencing upgrades.
The bill also marks a big success for Democrats who have fought tooth-and-nail against Trump’s signature project and his high-wage/low immigration economic strategy.
UPDATE Friday AM:
President Trump must have been reading Patriot Journal, because hours later he posted a threat to veto the bill, which passed overnight, because of glaring omissions:
I am considering a VETO of the Omnibus Spending Bill based on the fact that the 800,000 plus DACA recipients have been totally abandoned by the Democrats (not even mentioned in Bill) and the BORDER WALL, which is desperately needed for our National Defense, is not fully funded.

Make your voice heard and contact the President directly here if you want to tell him to follow through.
House Republicans do not support the President. This is not the first time they betrayed him and the party. You’ll remember their pathetic attempt at repealing Obamacare last year. After years of promising to revoke the terrible program, they let us down.
Now they are faced with an important election in the fall. The fate of our country hangs in who ends up in Congress. Instead of pushing Trump’s America First agenda, House Republicans saddle us with a terrible bill.
How do they expect to win by being so cowardly?
This bill was crafted to protect globalists. These people don’t care about American workers or businesses. They simply want cheap labor imported from Mexico. So, they oppose the wall. Their puppets in Congress—including many republicans—bowed to their demands.
The only chance that this bill is killed is if President Trump vetoes it. But it looks doubtful. Needed funding for the military and government is tied up in this bill. Should Trump veto, it will lead to yet another shutdown. Americans might not stand for that.
But can we afford another year with a border wall? Perhaps not.
