With the election of Donald J. Trump to the White House and with majority Republicans in both houses of Congress, expect some impressive work to be done in the coming years.
Trump has made major promises to Americans. He promised to build a wall across the Mexican-American border. He promised to crack down on ISIS and other terrorists. He promised to bring back jobs and lower taxes. He even promised to put conservative judges to the Supreme Court.
And with strong support in Congress, things are going to happen, fast.
From Western Journalism:
Pence, the former leader of the House Republican conference, told GOP congressmen to “buckle up, it’s going to move fast in the first 100-200 days,” according to Rep. Bill Flores, R-Texas.
“Donald Trump is a man of action and we’re counting on you,” Pence said, according to Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady, R-Texas.
During his meeting, Pence told House Republicans to “pray for the president, pray for his family, pray for our conference, and pray for the country,” said Rep. Dave Reichert, R-Wash. House Republican Conference vice chairman Doug Collins, R-Ga., who is also a pastor, then led the group in prayer.
Pence was also upbeat after the meetings.
As VP-elect and a major player in Trump’s transition team, it makes sense that Pence will lead the charge in Congress. His example and enthusiasm will ensure that the wheels of government will move smoothly and the promised reforms will happen efficiently.
Congress is good at slowing progress down. Opposition to the president can hamper needed legislation from getting passed. But with the support of GOP leaders in D.C., we can expect plenty of good things to come out of Trump’s first term.
“I’m very confident that as we move towards inauguration, bring together a great team, work in concert with leaders in the House and Senate, we’re going to move an agenda that’s going to rebuild our military, revive our economy, and … make America great again,” Pence said after his visit to Capitol Hill.
Pence will be a key factor in Trump’s success. As a strong conservative, with ample government experience, he will help push forward the President-elect’s agenda of restoring dignity and strength to our country.
