One of Donald Trump’s biggest supporters says the candidate’s concern for suffering people isn’t an act, and he should know: This Trump fan is an actor himself.
Oscar winner Jon Voight isn’t shy about his support for the Republican presidential hopeful. Unlike many conservatives in Hollywood, Voight wears his political affiliation on his sleeve, even though it has probably hurt his career more than helped it.
While speaking with Stuart Varney on thhe FOX Business Network, the star explained:
“I’ve seen him a couple of times on the road, and he’s got a tremendous amount of energy. I see him at the end of a day when he jumps through three states, and at 11 o’clock at night he looks exactly the same he started at 7 o’clock in the morning.”
Asked about Trump’s chances of winning the state of California, Voight relied: “I don’t think there’s any place Donald Trump can’t win.”
“He loves people and he’s very, very considerate and his heart goes out to people,” Voight said. “He’s not making it up when he sits with somebody who’s suffering something and you can see him feeling for them. This is not an act.”
Voight was asked the inevitable question about being a Republican in show business. He assured Verney that, “There are, by the way, many, many conservatives in Hollywood, they just aren’t very vocal.”
It’s too bad they aren’t. Can you imagine the impact it would have on the culture if all these conservatives “came out of the closet” and expressed their values on screen? Maybe the election of a “President Trump” will give some of them the courage to do so.
